Croatia has joined the list of nations that have made themselves more accessible to remote workers and digital nomads. In recent years, Croatia has achieved significant milestones, such as introducing a digital nomad visa, becoming one of the most desirable places in the EU, and joining the Schengen area.
With a Croatian digital nomad visa, foreigners can reside in the country and work remotely as independent contractors or small business owners. While referred to as a "digital nomad visa," it is actually more of a "temporary residency permit" granted to overseas independent workers or freelancers.
Please note that you cannot work for a Croatian firm or company with a digital nomad visa. For employment with a Croatian firm, you must obtain either a Croatian work visa or an EU Blue Card.
To qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa, you must meet the following criteria:
Provide evidence that you are not an EU or EEA national.
Demonstrate a monthly income of at least 2,300 EUR.
Work for an organization outside of Croatia.
Applicants must provide the following documents:
Completed visa application form.
Passport valid for at least three months beyond the visa expiration.
Proof of adequate income to meet visa eligibility requirements.
Proof of no criminal history.
Proof of accommodation in Croatia.
Visa Processing Time The average wait time for a response to your Croatian digital nomad visa application is one month. Processing time can vary depending on the police precinct or diplomatic post you applied to, and whether additional documents are required.
